Casey Gardner is the recipient of the 2013 Gallery Directors Exhibition award. This exhibit, Books, Paper And Printing, includes limited-edition book works, mono prints and project models and moquettes created during her work on Body of Inquiry.



The exhibit gives an insider view into the complexities of creating an interactive, sculptural limited-edition publication and the challenges faced when that book is printed letterpress.

Casey grew up in Aspen, Colorado and now lives and works in Berkeley, California. She started her education at University of Colorado in Boulder where she majored in Journalism. After working for a time in newspaper and magazine publishing, Casey returned to school, this time to study art. She now holds a BFA in Printmaking and Graphic Design from California College of the arts. While at CCA she studied book art with Betsy Davids.

Although she has been working with the book form for only a few years, she has received two Emerging Artist awards as well as individual exhibit awards and mentions. Her books are held in dozens of institutional and private collections.
